So, you’ve booked your ultimate outdoor adventure and headed to Juneau, Alaska. Alaska’s capital is an unforgettable destination home to one of the largest wilderness regions in the country.
You can spend your time fishing, exploring glaciers, spotting wildlife, or just soaking in the Last Frontier’s unique culture. During my time in Juneau, I was able to wander around the shops, dine on fresh seafood, and take a helicopter tour to the top of the glacier!
So based on my own experience and hours of planning and research, here is my personal selection of the 15 best hotels in Juneau:
1. Alaska’s Capital Inn Bed and Breakfast
A restored gold-rush era home turned bed and breakfast, Alaska’s Capital Inn Bed and Breakfast has individually appointed rooms with surprising touches. Be on the lookout for whirlpool tubs, in-floor radiant heat, original fir wood floors, and wallpaper from the 1800s.
The proprietors of this four-story home spend their time preparing breakfast with freshly caught Alaskan crab, organizing hikes through the adjacent rainforest, or simply directing weary travelers to the rocking chairs and garden hammock for some relaxation.
The property, which has a view of both Juneau’s downtown and the surrounding forested mountains, is a great choice of stay for a relaxing getaway. This historic building, built in 1906 by explorer John Old, offers a cozy, unhurried atmosphere where visitors may enjoy a taste of Alaska’s natural bounty. Visitors can expect homey touches like freshly baked cookies and complimentary wine upon arrival.
